There is a mother
snapping turtle who lays her eggs in LVAC's front garden each
year in late spring/early summer. They typically hatch in September,
so we weren't sure what had happened but, lo and behold, they've
arrived a tad late in early October. It's a special event we
look forward to witnessing every year.
Once they hatch, they have the arduous task of making their way
from the front garden, over a railroad tie wall, across the parking
lot, over a stone wall, through the woods and, finally, to the
pond. LVAC volunteers blocked off the parking lot to assure their
safe migration! |
